How does messaging work in Chivalry Mode?
Chivalry Mode was built with the Upward community and the spirit of traditional courtship in mind. It’s where men are expected to take the lead and make the first move. That’s the experience Chivalry Mode’s norms and community expectations reflect. That said, there are no restrictions on who can send the first message.
In Chivalry Mode, the “Your Turn” / “Their Turn” inbox indicator is a prompt to encourage the traditional courtship dynamic–not a technical restriction. Any matched user is free to initiate the conversation in Chivalry Mode, regardless of their gender or who they’re hoping to meet on Upward. Chivalry Mode is open to all users who meet the eligibility requirements.
How can I tell if someone is in Chivalry Mode?
Profiles enrolled in Chivalry Mode will display a badge.
This makes it easy to see who has chosen to follow Chivalry Mode standards.
